EU bans diesel and petrol cars

Published by Georg von Harrach on 16 February 202316 February 2023

Cars sold in the EU must be zero emission by 2035, following a vote in the European Parliament.

As a stepping stone, emissions must be cut by 55 per cent by 2030.

Green MEP for Dublin, Ciarán Cuffe, says the shift will greatly improve air quality.

European Parliament votes through new law meaning all new cars and vans must be CO2-free by 2035. Green MEP @CiaranCuffe says it means an end to diesel and petrol vehicles. @greenparty_ie pic.twitter.com/NOKOvC2dNz
