Ireland bypasses UK with French link

Ireland and France have signed an agreement to build an electricity cable under the sea. It will be Ireland’s first connection with mainland Europe, bypassing the UK. The deal was signed during a visit of the Taoiseach, Micheál Martin, to Paris where he has been meeting with President Macron.
